AmigaOne X5000

Introducing the AmigaOne X5000 from A-EON Technology

The new AmigaOne X5000 system is based on the Cyrus+ motherboard from A-EON Technology Ltd.

It is the successor to the popular AmigaOne X1000 from A-EON which was based on the "Nemo" motherboard.

The AmigaOne X5000 is supplied in a black custom boing ball engraved case (based on Fractal Design) featuring a 1TB SATA hard disk and DVDRW optical drive. Memory is 2GB as standard (configurable to more below). The system is powered by a 500W Power Supply Unit.

Graphics card is a RadeonHD R7 250 (1GB) with Enhancer Software 2D/3D drivers pre-installed on the system (this can be omitted from installation on request).

Qoriq P5020 CPU

Featuring a powerful 2 Ghz Qoriq P5020 Power CPU from Freescale.

Due to the extra processing power, it is the fastest board released and designed specifically to run AmigaOS 4.1 Operating System and Enhancer Software (detailed hardware specifications shown below)

Enhancer Software CD Icon

Supplied as a boxed CD at no extra cost with each motherboard is the latest Enhancer Software Plus Edition v1.3. This hugely popular software is a powerful distribution of essential software designed to unlock the power of the X5000. It is regularly updated and maintained with downloadable upgrades available from A-EON Technology's secure update server (registration required).

For users who want to have a bootable emergency backup of the Enhancer Software Plus Edition and OS 4.1 we can optionally supply at no extra charge a 4GB USB flash drive with OS 4.1 pre-installed along with the latest Enhancer Software Plus Edition.

If you do not wish to run the Enhancer Software and do not require the complimentary USB flash drive, you can remove this in the configuration options below. If you are an Enhancer Software user, this ready-to-go USB flash drive is a great alternative to the standard OS 4.1 Final Edition Boot CD. This bootable USB backup drive is useful keepsafe for setting up your main hard disk for the first time or when a hard disk fails in an emergency.

End User support for the Enhancer Software is provided solely by Amiga Kit and A-EON Technology Ltd.

To learn more about the Enhancer Software, please visit the official Wiki (click here)

OS 4.1 Final Edition licence serial key is supplied with the motherboard. The software ISO, which is supplied as a ready to burn bootable CD, is available as a digital download from Hyperion Entertainment website upon product registration. End user support and any possible future updates for OS 4.1 Final Edition software are provided solely by Hyperion Entertainment CVBA.

Each system is additionally supplied with a motherboard black back plate installed and a printed Technical Reference Manual.

A512 Amiga 500 / A500+ Memory Expansion

$

A512 Amiga 500 / A500+ Memory ExpansionThe A512 is a 512kByte trapdoor memory expansion for the A500 computer. This means that it's not just yet another copy of a product that was available from lots of second-source manufacturers during the late 1980s and 1990s, but it is looking at the needs of all A500 owners today:

  512k RAM
pass-through port for use in Amiga 500+
space for an Real Time Clock module (optionally available here)
compatible with ECS Agnus types for Chipram expansion
safe operation with OCS Agnus 8370 and 8371

Today's collectors and computer restoration experts like to keep a separate computer with a full OCS chipset and just a trapdoor memory expansion for the classic 0.5M Chipram and 0.5M ranger-mem configuration. With many second-source memory expansions using megabit memory chips, the setup will tend to run unstable, because the OCS Agnus types 8370 and 8371 will not generate enough refresh-addresses for most trapdoor memory expansions that use less than 16 memory chips.

Our A512 memory expansion will run properly with all Agnus types, including OCS chips. Thanks to an additional refresh circuit, the single 4MBit memory chip will get enough refresh addresses to keep it's contents in any configuration.

When operated in an A500+ computer, the A512 will be used as Chip ram, and two of these expansions can be cascaded to reach the maximum configuration of 2MBytes graphics memory (1 MByte on the main board, and 1 MByte in the trapdoor slot). The pass-through port is compatible with any other 512k trapdoor expansion, as long as it fits mechanically. The A500+ on-board RTC is only switched off if the RTC module has been installed on the A512 card.

The A512 memory expansion is compatible with all motherboard revisions from Rev.3 to Rev.8, including the A500+.

4 way Clockport Expander (A1200)

4 way Clockport Expander (A1200)4-way Clockport Expander

When Commodore introduced the clock port with the Amiga 1200 it's sole purposed was for a battery-buffered real-time clock and a 1 MB Chip-Ram extension. Over the years, other manufacturers had discovered this interface for themselves and introduced to the market a series of innovative expansions. These include mainly sound cards, interface cards and USB cards. Quickly users wanted to add several of these extensions in their Amiga 1200 computers but this was not possible due to only one clock port header being available.

Introducing the world's first buffered clockport expander with 4 separate connections created by Matthias Muench. It is often unnecessary to modify the drivers because many newer extensions already take account of these additional ports. Port 0 is compatible with the original clockport (address $ d80001), while the other ports cover the Zorro-IV board (address $ d84001, $ d88001 and $ d8c001). The design of the Clockport Expander was chosen so that on the one hand it would not collide with any other extension, and on the other hand, existing clock tower extensions could be reused even in the original housing under nearly optimal conditions.

A1200 clockport expander

It is important to ensure your Amiga 1200 has sufficient power, space and cooling to accommodate multiple clockport expansions. Your A1200 motherboard requires a 22-pin clockport header on the right hand side of the full clockport area. Most A1200s have this but some rare revisions have the header missing or installed on the left hand side.

SCSI to Micro SD Adapter V6
SCSI Interface SCSI-2 Narrow 8-bit 50-pin connector. SCSI FAST10 10MB/s synchronous transfers
SD Card InterfaceFull-size SD, tested up to 32GB Up to 20MB/s
USB InterfaceFirmware updates, configuration, and mass-storage USB 2.0 micro-B. Mass-storage at USB 2.0 FS speeds (1.2MB/s max)
Power5V via floppy 4-pin drive connector, USB, or self-powered using the SCSI host termination power. 2.35W maximum (500mA)
Dimensions (L x W x H)10cm x 9cm x 1.5cm
Performance Up to 10MB/s under optimal conditions. Worst-case performance is generally ~5.5 megabytes/second

Differences between V5 and V6 boards:

Full-Size SD slot. This makes it much easier to develop faceplates for external access.
A floppy-style berg power connector is used instead of the traditional Molex plug. This reduces the width of the device, simplifying 3.5" bracket production. Most systems can self-power the board and don't need a separate power cable anyway.
Better performance. The hardware supports synchronous transfers at 10MB/s.
Access to the data via USB. The SCSI2SD drives will appear when connected to a PC via USB. This is limited to around 1.2MB/s (USB FS speeds).
Superior noise resistance to deal with poor termination and poor cabling.
Integrated terminator, now enabled via software configuration

Buddha IDE Zorro (20-year Anniversary Edition)

Buddha IDE Zorro (20-year Anniversary Edition)The 20-year anniversary edition of the Buddha flash is exactly what the Buddha has always been: A top-class IDE controller. By popular demand of our loyal customers, we have made a new production run of our successful Z2-controller. Technical data remains the same: Buddha is an IDE-controller for all Amiga computers with Zorro-slots. In addition to two IDE-ports, there's a clock port for hardware originally designed for the A1200 computer. A new feature of the controller is that the IDE ports can supply power for a DOM module. Modern 3.3V technology saves power and only causes moderate temperature increase inside the computer.

All known features of the IDE controller are still available:

Autoboot with Kickstart V1.3, 2.0 and 3.1
two IDE-Ports for up to four IDE devices
compatible with almost all IDE/Atapi devices:
harddisks
DOM modules (40-pin)
Industrial-CF cards (with Adapter, not included)
Atapi CD-Roms (any speed)
Atapi CD-changers
Atapi CD-Writer (with MakeCD)
Syquest removable drives
LS120 (the 120MB-floppy, aka "A-drive")
IDE ZIP drives
Autoboot from ZIP and LS120 drives

Performance: Even with slow devices, transfer rates of 2.2 MBytes/second(*) can be achieved. The raw transfer rate is only limited by the Zorro-2 bus, which is 3.58 MBytes/second.(**)

The drivers have been programmed by Oliver Kastl, who has set highest standards with the "ALF" drivers and the IDE-fix (later "IDE-max") software. The software includes the whole IDE-package from Elaborate Bytes: Cache CD Filesystem, Harddisk Autopark, CD-changer tool, CD-32 emulator (only for AGA-chipset).

Harddisks or solid-state media can be prepared with HDToolbox or the iComp-installer, which complements the software package that comes with the 20-year anniversary edition of the Buddha controller: We have licensed the OS versions 1.3, 2.1 and 3.1, and included them on a 128MByte-DOM which is included in the price. The automatic installer makes preparing a harddisk easier than any other software did before: Just a few mouse clicks, and even the rather complicated process of installing media with a 64-bit file system is completed. Our installer brings the ease of use of today's computers to the computer system that introduced simple usability to the computer market in the 1980s.

The Linux- and NetBSD drivers for older versions of the Buddha controller can be used on this new version without change.

Scope of delivery: Controller, software on 128MByte-DOM, printed short manual.

Caution: UDMA cables cannot be used with this controller.

Additional Information and related Downloads can be found in our WIKI.

(*): measured with the classic "Quantum Bigfoot" harddisk
(**): performance depends on installed accelerator. Maximum transfer rate can be reached with 68020 and 68030 CPUs.
